For those of you that don’t know, the “Big Chop” (BC), is when you remove all your relaxed ends by cutting them off.
Take your time before you decide when you’ll do it, who’ll do it, and why you’re doing it.
Sadly, not everyone will accept this new you but that’s okay. Stay strong and remember why you took the plunge in the first place.
One…Study up! Long before you ever grab a pair of scissors, do your research. Join natural hair websites, meet other naturals, and ask questions. Find the answers to all of your questions to be sure that this is something you want to do.
Two…Learn the art of styling natural hair! If you don’t already know how, grab a niece or cousin with natural hair and learn how to cornrow, braid, flat twist, and detangle thick hair. This will help build confidence when it comes to dealing with your own hair.
I can understand how nerve racking it is to really cut all your hair off after months if not years of growing it out, but remember that being natural is healthier and more rewarding.
TIP! Don’t get so caught up in growing your hair that you forget to have fun with your short hair! Being natural should be exciting!
