Dying to know how to do an updo pompadour hairstyle?
Sadly, thanks to Pinterest and Facebook, we’ve already seen it all – half updo hairstyles, curly wedding updos, updos for long hair, updos for short hair, etc, but I’m betting you’ve never seen one like this before!
I was inspired to do this hair style after seeing a a little girl wearing a flat twist updo with extensions at our local Target, very similar to this one.
It was a challenging hairdo but here’s my best attempt!
We love it!
For braiding the hair you’ll need:
- Beautiful Textures Tangle Taming Leave In Conditioner
- Beautiful Textures Moisture Butter Whipped Curl Cream
- Beautiful Textures Curl Control Defining Pudding
The thing about this gorgeous curly updo is that the back is what is featured, so you’ll have to be pretty comfortable with cornrowing before you should try this hairdo.
Also, remember to be patient! It’s hard, but definitely a lot of fun and worth the effort!
The first part of the hairdo is the back design.
Of course, this part is optional, but I think it adds a hint of detail to the style.
Check out the collage below!
Once the zig zag braids were finished, it was on to the easier, straight up cornrows!
This part was very simple and straight forward. The trick is section off a “U” chuck for the two strand twists/pompadour part, and the side cornrows went everywhere else!
The style was super easy and only took about two hours! We’re going to make it last about two weeks, but longer than that would be nice, too!
I’ve really been into pompadour hairstyles and updos hairstyles lately, because they’re cute and protective!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this hairdo! Thanks for reading!
Don’t forget to “like” if you enjoyed!
