Party Hairstyles

Looking for party hairstyles?

This is actually a gymnastics competition hairstyle but Bunny insists that it’s a party hairstyle so that’s what we’re calling it.

I did this hairstyle over the course of two days.

I used about an hour and a half after school on Thursday and then another hour after school on Friday.

Her competition isn’t until Sunday but she was going to a sleepover Friday night so I did it kind of early just to get it out of the way.

On to the hair!

For braiding the hair you’ll need:

As always, I started with clean, detangled, stretched hair.

Day One:

On the first day I parted her hair in half, from one ear to the other and clipped the back part out of the way for the time being. While she was busy watching The Princess & The Frog, I did half cornrows, tying them off with pink rubber bands when I ran out of room to cornrow.

Half cornrows and rope twists. I like the look of rope twists over two strand twists because they always look shinier and result in a much tighter twist out, but you can do two or three strand twists if you’d like.

Pictured below, day one of cornrowing

See how her cornrows don’t go straight back on the left side? I did that on purpose so her twists would hang to one side 😀

Day Two:

I began day two by taking out the back part and doing more half cornrows to rope twists. Breaking hair day into two or three days is easier on my fingers and Bunny’s patience.

Sometimes I’ll do a hairstyle over the course of three hours, other times three days. It really depends on what her mood is and how I’m feeling.

If you’re getting tired, pulling the hair into a ponytail and call it a day! It’s entirely up to you!

All ready for competition day!

Please keep your fingers crossed that she does well and has a lot of fun tomorrow morning as we travel across the state for her first competition on the season!
