Lately I’ve gotten into adorning hairstyles with braids and cornrows, instead of ribbons or beads.
However, as you can see, this hairstyle has braids, cornrows, and beads!
My little sister loved this hair style because it's super different and I loved it because it's just so cute!
For this style you’ll need:
Start with clean, detangled hair. You can also “stretch” your hair if you like.
"Stretching" is a heat less way to eliminate the curl pattern for easier braiding or twisting. This process is not permanent and does not damage the hair. Learn about that process by clicking right here.
The first thing I did was make two rows of box braids in the back for a total of nine box braids. You can make more or less, it doesn’t matter.
Once you’re finished with that, part the hair from one ear to the other ear.
Make one cornrow directly down the center of the head and tie off with a rubber band when you’ve run out of room to cornrow. The next thing I did was do an “X” with two cornrows over the centered cornrow.
As pictured above.
At this stage the only thing left to do is to fill in the front half of the head with zig zag cornrows. Pull all hair up into two different little buns.
Don’t tie off the braids with rubber bands for less wear on the hair. You can add beads to the braids in the front if you like, as I did.
Thank you very much for reading!
