How To Do Cornrows

Wondering how to do cornrows?

I get asked that question more than anything else when it comes to cornrow hair designs and cornrows in general.

With all that said, I wanna break down the latest of my cornrow styles and really explain how I did it!

This cute hairstyle combines both two strand twists and cornrows for a super edgy look for little girls!

I hope you enjoy!

Love it!

For braiding the hair you’ll need:

Products used:

As always, I started with clean, detangled, stretched hair.

How To Instructions:

1. The very first thing I did was section B’s hair into two different sections, one on the left and one on the right so her hair was split in half, straight down the middle of her head. I clipped one section out of the way and began with the cornrows.

2. At this point I did a very simple, freestyle cornrow design but feel free to get as crazy and wild with the cornrows as you’d like. I personally believe that side cornrows look best when their sizes are pretty much the same size.

3. Once I ran out of room to make each cornrow stick to B’s head, I added a rubber band to that then two strand twisted all the way to the end. I always add a little olive oil to rubber bands before they go into her hair to decrease the likelihood of breakage.

4. After the cornrows had been completed, I pinned the cornrows/twists out of the way and started two strand twisting all the loose hair. I always try and make sure that each twist is the same size.

5. Finally, all the twists and cornrows had been finished! I spritzed B’s hair with a little coconut oil and smoothed down her edges with a little Eco Styler gel.

And that was it!

Bunny has gonna lots of compiments on this style and she loves it!

Also, she told me that she’s “too old” for anymore “cutesy” hairstyles, so I see a lot more braided mohawks, side cornrows, and hair twists in this kids future!
