Mohawk hairstyles for naturally curly hair anyone?
Bunny’s first gymnastics competition of the season is tomorrow so I let her decide what her style would be.
(Yes, I’ll admit that more than half the time I’m a horrible older sister and pick her styles for her, which, in my defense, she always loves regardless).
Anyway, she wanted side cornrows and twists for the first hour, then changed her mind and said she wanted a Mohawk, meaning that I had to undo her hair and start ALL over again.
*Sigh* Pictures just don’t do justice
Please check out her floor routine and leave a comment at the bottom of the page!
For braiding the hair you’ll need:
The amount I cornrowed on each side
TIP! I started with clean, detangled, stretched hair and I recommend this for best results. Click here to learn how I prepare hair for my cornrow hairstyles.
Here’s the right side of the braided Mohawk
To begin, I parted her hair down the middle of her head (not focusing on how straight it was because I knew it would be completely covered), clipped the left side out of the way for now, then parted the right section in half.
I wanted there to be lots and LOTS of twists so I made the middle section very thick.
And here is the left side of the braided Mohawk
The back view of the hairstyle
TIP! As you can see above, her twists are extra shiny and that’s because I tried something new. I sectioned off a bit for each twist, combed it through, added peanut oil to it, combed it through AGAIN, then twisted it to the end, keeping the tension straight down. The twists “hang” a little better, she had less shrinkage, and they are SOOOOO soft.
