Hair Braiding Gallery

This is more of hair braiding gallery type of post than an actual how to cornrow hair style because I forgot to take pictures while I was braiding and it’s probably hard to explain.

So sorry about that.

Anyway, with Halloween right around the corner, Bunny said she really wanted a Halloween hairstyle that had spiders in it like this post way back when.

That was last Halloween and I’ve gotten better at braiding so I really went crazy with this one!

hair

After much debating, I decided not to use beads anywhere but if I could do it over I probably would use some. As a matter of fact, I’m kind of mad that I didn’t because Bunny has some super cool oranges ones that would have looked awesome braided into the cornrows.

For braiding the hair you’ll need:

hair

As always, I started with clean, detangled, stretched hair.

hair

I began by parting her hair in half, from the very top of her head all the way to the nape of her neck and clipped one side out of the way. It really doesn’t matter which side you cornrow first.

And to be completely honest, I can’t even remember which side I did first.

hair

Okay so here’s where it gets a little hard to explain. I free styled really – using hair clips to keep everything neat while I did a spider, then filled in all the gaps with random cornrows. The only cornrows I made sure I did NOT do were ones that crissed-crossed to form an“X”.

Why?

Well, because I do them a lot and wanted to change things up a bit.

hair

All in all, all I really did was a cornrow design on each side, leaving the ends on braided, then did Bantu knots with the loose hair down the middle.

Next Halloween I will definitely take pictures as I braid. I promise!
