Yay, more easy hairstyles for black girls with natural hair!

Black natural hair styles can be super fun, as well as being protective as well!

When it comes to protective styling for little girl hairstyles, it’s important that you don’t leave it in for too long, because the take down process could be damaging if the hair is too dry or tangled.

With all that said, let’s get started!

For braiding the hair you’ll need:

Products used:

  • Bobeam Shea Moisturizer Review coming soon!
  • Bobeam Hair Rootz Review coming soon!

As always, I started with clean, detangled, stretched hair.

Easy Hairstyles for Black Girls Tutorial:

Step One: The first thing that I did was part B’s hair in half, slightly off centered with there being more hair on the left side of the part.

I did this so that the pompadour part wouldn’t lay on the very top of her head, but would lay more to one side and frame her face.

After that I began cornrowing towards the middle part, tying her hair off with a rubber band and rope twisting her to the ends.

Step Two: Here is what the entire right side of her head looked like.

This is just a simple freestyle design that I did, but feel free to do the braids any way that you want.

I used white rubber bands so that they would match with all of the outfits that she’ll wear during the week, but purple or pink would be super cute, too!

Step Three: Before I started the second half, we took a little break, then she came back and took a nap while I finished up the other half.

Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up to fabulous hair every day, lol!

If your little one can’t fall asleep while you’re doing their hair, you’re braiding too tightly!

Step Four:Finally, once I’d finished all of the cornrows and rope twists, I braided all the twists up to side/top of her head.

I used rubber pins to secure everything the way that I liked it.

She’ll change the style up each day with different bows and flowers.

More pics! Feel free to FB/Tweet/Pin them!

Click any pic to enlarge it….

Hopefully this tutorial has educated and inspired you!

Thank you all SOOO very much for all the love & support that you’ve so generously showed my little sister and I.

Keep it coming!

Have a blessed day!

Braid Hairstyles for Men

HAIR CARECURLY HAIR

These braid hairstyles are designed just for men and boys with natural hair. If you doubt this style would look good on you because you have problem with greasy hair, I am here to tell you that there is an easy solution that will help you get rid of greasy hair.

I’ve been begging my younger brothers to grow out their hair for quite some time now, and two of my younger brothers have decided to finally go for it.

I typically braid their hair on the weekends, when it’s most convenient, and that’s about it routine wise. Because their hair is still so short, their hairstyles tend to look fuzzy only three or four days later.

They wash their hair when they feel like it, which probably isn’t the best thing but at least they do it.

braid

I debated for quite a while if I should post male cornrow hairstyles, due to the fact there are so many people who think it’s wrong or gross or whatever, finally I just decided that it’s my decision.

If you like the styles, feel free to comment and like this page below, otherwise, please be respectful anyway.

Why Wear Braid Hairstyles Or Twists?

Braids and twists can be worn for many reasons: to give your hair a rest from daily wear and tear, as a protective hair style or simply because you enjoy the beauty of the hairstyle.

You Don’t Need To Care For Braided Hair!

This statement is wrong. Although your hair is braided or twisted, there is still some care you must provide, such as washing and conditioning, which are always required to keep it healthy and strong.

How Should I Care For My Braid Hairstyles?

I strongly recommend washing your braids with a mild shampoo while wearing a stocking cap to preserve your style!

If you’d like to send in pictures of your cornrow styles to my site or show how my styles turned out for you, please comment. You can also suggest future hairstyles or just say “Hi” to all the other naturals!

As requested, more updo hairstyles for long hair!

You can never do too many easy updo hairstyles!

This hairdo is both easy and quick. And although I did it on long hair, it can be modified to work with hair of shorter lengths as well.

Just keep in mind that the bun won’t be quite as full.

I promise to deliver more braided updos and curly updos in the next couple of months!

Enjoy…

Updo Hairstyles for Long Hair Tutorial:

For braiding the hair you’ll need:

Products used:

As always, I started with clean, detangled, stretched hair.

Step By Step Instructions:

Step One:

The first thing that I did was part out a small section in the very back of her head.

This is where the cornrow design is going to go. I did five cornrows, but feel free to do more or less, depending on the texture and density of the hair.

Once I ran out of room to make the braid stick to her head, I tied the braid off with a rubber band and two strand twisted her hair all the way to the end.

Step Two:

This is what her hair looked like after a handful of twists had been finished.

If you don’t know how to twist hair, check out our two strand twists for beginners post right here!

If you don’t like twists, you can do box braids or rope twists instead!

Step Three:

Finally, I finished up the style by pulling all of her hair up into a big ol’ bun on the very top of her head.

Check out our bun tutorial right here for the deets!

After that, I added a giant hair flower and called it a day.

Supah easy & supah cute!

Picture to “PIN”!!!

Hopefully this tutorial has educated and inspired you!

Thank you all SOOO very much for all the love & support that you’ve so generously showed my little sister and I.

Curly hair styles photos!

In this post I’m going to talk about a couple different things.

First, I will show you exactly how I accomplished my latest cornrow design but I also want to talk about my younger sister’s natural hair care routine.

Also, I want to talk about what black hair care products that we used.

Enjoy!

Half Cornrows & Box Braids!

For braiding the hair you’ll need:

As always, I started with clean, detangled, stretched hair.

curly
Half Cornrows & Box Braids Side Shot!

curly

Alright so I began by sectioning Bunny’s hair into four different sections as shown left. I washed it with Royal Curl Stay Clean Shampoo and then added Royal Curl Moisture Whip Conditioner as a leave-in conditioner.

curly

Starting with the section on the top right, I split it in half and did a single cornrow going on the diagonal. I then used a little Original Moxie Lux Locks to moisturize. I like this product because it moisturizes and softens curls without making them shrink up.

curly

After that I did six cornrows going straight down from the single cornrow, using up the leftover hair in that section (the top right one).

curly

Once I’d done that, I took the loose ends and flat twisted then towards the middle of her head. Look at the picture to the left.

curly

I did the same thing on the other side and also on the top of her head. Look closely at the parts. I really wish I’d taken better pictures. Sorry about that. On the top of her head, however, I made the two different sections meet, and then I Dutch braided the loose ends.

curly

And here is what the top looked like when it was all completed. These cornrows are called iVersion cornrows.

I think they’re a little bit prettier than regular cornrows but to each his own.

curly

Lastly, I finished up with about thirty to thirty-five box braids and that was it.

The whole hair style only took about two hours and I’m hoping to get three weeks out of it.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
And that was the whole process! We will change it up with different hair bows or ribbons and maybe do some curls with the braids in the back.

Who knows!?

For those of you wondering about the iVersion cornrow design, they aren’t hard to do – this is only my third time doing them so believe me when I say that they are easy – but they are a little time consuming to put in and take down.

I’ve also noticed that they last longer than regular cornrows.

Thank you for checking out our natural curly hair styles, our school hairstyles, and everything we do.

We appreciate all the love and support!

Willow Smith inspired hair style!

As we all know, Willow is becoming quite famous for her remarkable and unique cornrow styles, braided mohawks, and short funky hairstyles.

Bunny saw this one on Google Images a LONG time and I have been wanted to do it for a while but didn’t really knowing how to.

Anyway, I decided to cornrow her sides down and do mini twists for the loose part.

Sounds like a good idea, right?

Wrong!

The whole hairstyle turned out horrible so I had to switch it up completely. Grrr. Better luck next time!

willow
The look we were going for….

For braiding the hair you’ll need:

As always, I started with clean, detangled, stretched hair.

willow
…And the look we ended up with!

Alright so this wasn’t my best hairstyle, but I decided to do a post on anyway for two reasons.

The first one being this, always have a plan B. I think we’ve all been in a situation where our twist out wasn’t working for us or our cornrows kept going all funky. Always have a backup plan!

The other reason, it’s been a while since I posted any African American kids hairstyles so this was long overdue.

Sorry about that!

Bunny’s been wearing a lot of two strand twists lately, which really isn’t that exciting so I haven’t been taking pictures of her hair styles.

willow

Alright so we started on a twist out hairstyle. Two days earlier I’d washed her hair with Original Sprout Natural Shampoo and conditioned with Original Sprout Leave-In Conditioner.

Well, today I removed the twists and decided to style her hair on top of that.

willow

I parted a rectangular section out, at the very top of her head. This is the “bangs” part, so I clipped those out of the way.

willowAfter that I did four side cornrows on either side of her head. As you can see, my parts were horrible! She still has a few scars on her scalp from her chicken pox, so I parted very gently with a wide tooth instead of a rat tail comb. Also, I added a little Licorice Root Scalp Elixir to her scalp to hopefully speed up the healing process.

willow

I only cornrowed her hair until I ran out of room to make her braids stick to her head. After that, I switched to two strand twists. Twists hold in moisture better (on her head anyway) and they’re easier to remove.

willow

Next, I began filling in the top and back of her head with twists, big fat ones in the back as pictured left above and thinner ones in the front.

willow

The ones in the back were thicker than my thumb whereas the ones in the front were about as thin as a headphone wire. The mini twists took longer to put in than all the cornrows and twists combined.

willow
She can wear her hair as a ponytail hairstyle

willow

Or as an updo hairstyle

We will definitely play around with it, perhaps change it up a bit before moving on to her Valentine’s Day hairstyle! But what do you think, would Willow Smith be pleased??

Also, we used a new product for this hairstyle, which we’ll be posting a review on ASAP!

Thanks so much for reading and have a good one!

Here you can discover our latest undercut hairstyle that includes cool braids as well!

Please keep in mind that I am NOT a barber so my undercut isn’t exactly perfect, but then again, I’m only human so none of my styles are perfect!

Can’t wait to share this one with you all.

Cool Hairstyles for Men:

STEP ONE:

The first thing that I did was part off a small section in the front of his head where his half cornrows were gonna go.

Off course, if you don’t wanna do an undercut, you can still do this hair style!

STEP TWO:

Here in this pic you can see how I parted and braided his all coming out of one point at the very top of his head.

Of course, you can always part the hair out any way that you want, but this is the design that he chose to have.

STEP THREE:

Once all of the cornrows were finished, I went ahead and started on the box braids.

Box braids are optional; two strand twists would work as well, too!

Pin These!!!!!

Well, that’s it peeps!

My little brother loved this hair style and got sooooo many compliments on it. His hair has grown so much in the last couple of years and I strongly believe that’s due to all the protective styling that we’ve been doing!

I hope you all have been enjoying our blog – we love sharing with you all!

I get so many requests for cute box braids hairstyles, so I’m stoked to be sharing this post with you all today.

Here you’ll learn how to do box braids as well as different styles that can be done with those braids.

There are lots of cute hairstyles for micro braids and senegalese twists that can be done on box braids, as well.

Can’t wait to surprise you!

Lots of versatility!

Box Braids Hairstyles:

There are so many different hairdos that you can make out of these one style. The sky is the limit so let your imagination run wild!

Changing up how you wear your hair can make the protective process a lot less boring.

<border=”3″>

naturalStep One:
The first thing I did was split B’s hair into four equal sections. Now, just because you box braid, does not mean that the parting sections have to be actual boxes. I always part on a slant and take randomly parted out pieces of hair.

<border=”3″>

naturalStep Two:
I continued parting and braiding until I had finished that first quarter of hair. After that, you guessed it, I moved on to the next quarter and continued braiding. Once I had reached the end of each braid, I went ahead and added a little extra moisturizer and twirled the ends so they would hold.

<border=”3″>

naturalStep Three:
This style is pretty self-explaining. I spent about six years (yes, YEARS!) doing all of her braids, and they should last us about six weeks at least.

I use a lot of products in B’s hair, so it’s important that the shampoos I use are very thorough, but gentle enough that it won’t dry out her curls.

With all that said, I really enjoyed using this shampoo. It did a great job of cleansing without stripping. I like that it’s tough, but moisturizing.

I’d heard a lot of great things about this product and it did not disappoint. Will definitely recommend this to any one with natural/curly hair!

Review:

Out of all the Kinky Curly products I used, this one is definitely my most favorite and impressed me the most.

It has the consistency of leave in conditioner, so there’s no way it could be used to get those super tight, hard to remove tangles out, right?

WRONG!

Knot Today did a better job of removing knots and snarls than any other product I’ve ever used in the six years that I’ve been doing hair.

Yes, quote me on that!

This product is amazing and actually leaves the hair moisturized, as well as free of tangles!

Review:

I used this product as a “holding” product for two strand twists, twist outs, and braid outs!

We don’t do that many down hairstyles anymore (we’ve been so busy that we usually stick with protective styles) but I throughly enjoyed using this product.

Will continue to use it!

Mens braids anyone?

I’ve gotten a lot of requests for natural hairstyles for black men, so I’m super excited to be sharing this post with you all today!

This fabulous includes two strand twists and a Dutch braid to make a masculine protective style.

He got so many compliments on this style!

I hope you enjoy this tutorial!

mens
A very masculine way to show off all that hard earned length!

For styling the hair you’ll need:

Products used:

As always, I started with clean, detangled, stretched hair.

mens
Everyone loved this style!

Who says protective styling has to be boring??!!

Detailed Mens Braids Step By Step Instructions:

<border=”3″>naturalStep One:

This is what Wesley’s hair looked like before we began. Big, but neatly detangled and conditioned. Ready for styling! Oh, and for those who asked…my siblings NEVER wear big stretched hair as a style. It’s too much hair for them to manage and it ends up matting and tangling, which stinks =(

<border=”3″>mensStep Two:

I’ve found that parting on a slant makes for easier, faster twisting, which is what I decided to do this time. I parted out small, half inch by half inch sections and two strand twisted all the way to end. For smoother, more even twists, I try to keep the same amount of tension all the way down and twist the hair as tightly as I can.

<border=”3″>naturalStep Three:

And finally, this is what a handful of his two strand twists look like. I like this size because they last 5-6 weeks, but only take about two hours to put in and half an hour to remove. We’ve found the size that works for us. Hope this helped!

Pics to “Pin”!!!

I hope you found this tutorial inspiring and helpful!

Good luck on your hair journey!
