African American Short Hair Styles

This is one for my African American short hair styles collection and I did it on my fourth oldest sister.

I’ve been trying to get ALL six of my sisters on the website for quite some time. I’m getting closer!

You can view the fourth sister here and the fifth sister here and you can view the youngest, Bunny, pretty much on every page.

So anyway, a lot of people think that the objection to having natural hair is to grow it out as long as possible. However, I have several sisters who – like I – have no desire to grow their hair out.

It’s about what works before for YOUR personal lifestyle.

For braiding the hair you’ll need:

  • Rat tail comb
  • Wide tooth comb
  • Hair moisturizer
  • Hair clips to section hair

This style took me about the first half of 50 First Dates.

To begin, I parted her hair in half, from one to the other and tucked the back half out of the way for now. I used a hair clip to keep it out of the way.

    Now on to the braiding!

Here you can see her hair is wet and filled with conditioner

The pictures really speak for themselves on how I did the style.

One side of the braids…then the other side. Easy. For once I did NOT stretch my victims’ hair before braiding – due to time issues – and I really wish I had been able to.

I swear by banding and view it as one of THEE most IMPORTANT steps to mastering a style.

    Oh well.

The style still came out well and will last anywhere from one week to two weeks, depending on how often she washes her hair or goes swimming.

Either way, I still love the style! Many more African American short hair styles coming soon!

Have a blessed & safe week!
